NOTICE is hereby given that the Annual Meeting of Members of the Canadian Gerontological Nursing Association (the “Association”) will be held at the hour of 2:30pm (Eastern Time) in the afternoon on the 13th day of June, 2026, for the following purposes:
- To receive the financial statements of the Association for the period ended December 31, 2025 together with the report of the public accountant thereon;
- To elect directors to the Board of Directors of the Association;
- To appoint a public accountant to conduct a review engagement of the financial statements of the Association for the financial year ending December 31, 2026;
- To receive reports from the Board of Directors of the Association;
- To transact other business as may properly be brought before the meeting.
The 2026 Annual Meeting of Members will be held online. Pre-registration is required (see information below).

Special Guest Speaker: Dr. Jim Mann
Please join us after the Annual General Meeting for a talk by our esteemed guest, Dr. Jim Mann.
Jim is a researcher, advocate, and speaker who was diagnosed with young onset Alzheimer’s disease in 2007 at the age of 58. Since his retirement, he has focused on the meaningful and ethical engagement of those living with dementia, along with issues of stigma and technology.
Jim was awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws degree at UBC in 2020 for his work “countering negative stereotypes and promoting an inclusive society in which persons with dementia can make an active and meaningful contribution.”
In research, he was co-Principal Investigator of a project focused on reducing stigma of dementia, co-investigator of a robotic-assisted virtual care project, and is co-lead, collaborator, and knowledge user on other projects. He has authored/co-authored 80 papers and is proud to be a mentor to early career researchers and students.
In the Fall of 2023 Jim spoke at and participated in Providence Research’s Hacking Aging where his table of six people developed a ‘solution’ that received the Research and Innovation award.
As a community volunteer, Jim is a member of the Ministerial Advisory Board on Dementia, which developed and released the national dementia strategy entitled A Dementia Strategy for Canada ~ Together We Aspire, a CIHR Advisory Board member for the Institute of Aging, an Advisory Council member of Research Ethics BC, and a board member with the Alzheimer Society of B.C.
