CGNA has recently reviewed and endorsed the new Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) guidelines for the oral health screening of older people, a project under the direction of Dr. James Taylor, Chief Dental Officer of Canada.
The screening tool was developed for the use of non-dentists, in particular nurses, by a team of researchers led by Dr. Caron at the Université Laval. CGNA believes the screening tool will be very helpful for nurses who care for older persons across all health settings.
The final document is now available on the Université Laval website. Please scroll down to “Canadian Oral Health Screening Tool for Seniors”: https://www.fmd.ulaval.ca/recherche/
